A pet emotional wearable to assist owners better understanding the feeling of their pets. It is designed to allow owner access their pet’s emotion status and health data from an anthropomorphic chat.
OBJECTIVES
“Let your favoriate pets be your family”. Owners can know more about their pets and store their mutual memories, in order to better communicate with their pets.
TARGET USERS
Pet owners who do not have time to spend with their pets.
THE PROBLEM
Time spending, understanding the implicated behaviours that the dog currently needs are the two primary concerns.
COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS
The key areas I focused were how do the pet and owner response after tracking the health data through the existing intelligent products.

IDEATION
Emow is a sensory wearable designed to translate the data into human language. Owners can directly read the emotions when reacting with their pets.

A new message will sent once emotional changes are detected. Owners can therefore make a right decision in advance even they are living apart from their pets.

To make it more interesting, users is registered with their pet characteristics, including type and specific breed. Tone of the anthropomorphic notifications varies based on the user profile.

Owners can compete with friends to achieve a higher remotion ranking. If negative emotions persist for an extended period, recommended products will show on the ranking page.

USABILITY TESTING
I interviewed 65 pet owners to determine the most common challenges encountered in pet care and what were the emerging expectations to our products. All research participants had at least 1 dog or cat.
KEY USER INSIGHTS
- Users concern about the battery life and level of comfort during prolonged use.
- Users are struggle to find the solutions to address pet’s needs.

TESTING
We had do over 80 sample data of movement, heart rate variability & audio frequency in the training system to define the 6 benchmark emotions: loneliness, frustration, aggressiveness, assertiveness, happiness, wistfulness.


VISUAL BRAND VALUES
emow refers “emotion” and “wow”, an onomatopoeic word for pets language. The shape of icon combines a dialogue bubble and the face of pet. The three small dots symbolise that pets can talk.
